Active Saturday, Windy Near Walters

Saturday, August 18, 2018 in Texoma brought showers and thunderstorms and a few of those were severe.  Not overly unusual for this time of year.  Certainly good to get rain.  It's the 'severe' part folks just aren't that too thrilled over.  And, with good reason.

Although there were numerous warnings across Texoma we only had one severe weather report and that comes to us from Cotton County in southwest Oklahoma.

Here's a map showing the report location just off of I-44 H.E. Bailey Turnpike.

It was northwest of Walter, Okla.

Further investigation lets us know that the severe wind gust was 58 mph in strength.  Take a look at the map with the data window open for this event.

Fifty-eight miles per hour is the exact wind speed that wind must reach to be labelled severe.

Many folks saw rain which is great but this was the only severe weather report.

If you sustained severe weather and would like to share about it please let me know.  I would appreciate it.
