Wednesday Night (08/08-09/2018) Rain Chances In Your Hometown

[NOTE:  I'm trying out a new mapping program.  It isn't fancy but I hope it gets the point across.]

We have seen scattered rain showers and a few thundershowers around Texoma on this Wednesday.  The overall chances today weren't too high, so this wasn't a surprise.

Now, the sunshine is actually good, that will fuel the atmosphere somewhat and in addition to the outflow boundaries are sitting in many areas along the Red River and to the south.

What does this mean?  It means the chances of rain, thundershowers and possible thunderstorms looks good for tonight.

Let's take a look at the entire Texoma area to get an idea of the rain chances.  Then we will break it down county by county like you have seen never before.

[NOTE:  All maps should be clickable for a larger version].

This map shows all of Texoma.  The light yellow to the northeast indicates a 10% chance of showers and thunderstorms overnight between 11p and 7a.

The green indicates a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms overnight between 11p and 7a.

And, the deep greenish-blue indicates a 70% chance of overnight showers and thunderstorms between 11p and 7a.

Now as promised let's break it down.

Here are the maps for close up counties in Texoma with the colors codes indicating the same as above.

Central Texoma (Wichita, Cotton, Tillman Counties).
Northeast Texoma (Comanche, Stephens, Jefferson and Cotton Counties).
East Central Texoma (Wichita, Archer, Clay, Stephens and Montague Counties).
South Central Texoma (Jack, Throckmorton, Young, Archer and Baylor Counites).

Southwest Texoma (King, Haskell, Stonewall, Knox, Throckmorton and Baylor Counties).
West Central Texoma (Childress, Cottle, Hardeman, Foard & Wilbarger Counties).
Northwest Texoma (Greer, Harmon, Jackson, Kiowa Counties).

Well, now that I posted them the maps turned out a bit small for this blog.  But I'll get it figured out over time so they look better and can be used better by you folks reading this.

Overall the point is the best chance of rain tonight and overnight between 11p and 7a appears to be from Wichita Falls, through Seymour, Vernon and then out to Quanah, Crowell and beyond.

Let me know what you think.  Leave a comment on here or on Facebook.

Also, if you do get rain please email me rainfall totals or if you get any severe weather such as wind or hail let me know too.

Have a good night and I hope you all get some rain.
