(7/10) Dangerous Heat Levels Today, Use Caution

The National Weather Service has issued a:
*(EXCESSIVE) HEAT WARNING*
*HEAT ADVISORY*

The warning and advisory are in effect until 8p CDT Wednesday, July 10, 2019.

What:  *Excessive Heat Warning* - this is the highest level of heat alert the NWS issues.

When:  Now until 8p CDT Wednesday, July 10, 2019

Here are the counties (cities) that are included in the *Excessive Heat Warning*:

  • Wichita (Wichita Falls)
  • Clay (Henrietta)
  • Cotton (Walters)
  • Jefferson (Waurika)
  • Stephens (Duncan)
  • Comanche (Lawton)

Heat index reading around 115°

National Weather Service Statement:


...EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM CDT THIS EVENING...

The National Weather Service in Norman has issued an Excessive
Heat Warning, which is in effect until 8 PM CDT this evening.

* HEAT INDEX VALUES...From 110 to 115 degrees.

* TIMING...Throughout the afternoon into the early evening today.

* IMPACTS...Dangerously high temperatures and humidity could
  quickly cause heat stress or heat stroke if precautions are
  not taken.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

An Excessive Heat Warning means that a prolonged period of
dangerously hot temperatures will occur. The combination of hot
temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a DANGEROUS
SITUATION in which heat illnesses are likely. Drink plenty of
fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and
check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets
should never be left unattended in vehicles under any
circumstances. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool
and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency, call 9 1 1.

  outdoor exertion or extended exposure.
